How to Get More Followers on Pinterest

I'm sure you don’t need yet another person assuring you that if you have a SEO and a business account on Pinterest, you're going to go so well.

Cause you're not.

Pinterest isn't about having a good profile picture and putting the right words in your bio.

It's about the pins.

First, I'll inform you if the steps to Pinterest and then I'll break down each step.

To have a successful Pinterest account, follow these simple steps:

  1. Pin Interesting and Trending Pins

  2. Create Pins

  3. Follow Back

  4. Group Boards

  5. Keywords

Now, you're probably thinking, This is what the last site said. But, I promise you, this one will be different.

Pin Interesting and Trending Pins

Now, it can be quite hard to know what is trending and popular on Pinterest (especially now that they have taken away the Explore tab) but, if it's popular to you, it's popular to someone else too. Chances are that thousands of people are interested in the same things that you are and are looking for other people too.

Also, when you are pinning, think of any upcoming festivals, holidays or world-wide news. At Christmas, the amount of people that will be looking for decorations or party ideas will be extremely immense, at Halloween, millions of people look for the perfect costume on Pinterest and when there's a royal wedding coming up or a new baby, Pinterest saws with people trying to find out more.

Another easy and quick way to gain hundreds of followers, fast, is to be a part of a fandom or club. If you pin about a TV show, book or hobby, the amount of people following you will exceed your expectations. People just want to find someone who is as obsessed with something as they are and Pinterest is the perfect place for that.

Create pins

Creating pins can take a long, boring process, or it can be as easy as pie.

You can either, create and save pins from your website, if you have one, or from other people's websites. But, make sure that if it is not your property, put in the correct information so that the owner still gets credit for their picture.

Another easy way to create pins is to use apps like Pic Collage (free), which make creating collages and drawing so much easier. What's even better is that the finished collage or picture is perfect for Pinterest and will look professional.

Follow Back

Heaps of people think that it looks really cool if you have heaps of followers but only follow a couple of people but, on Pinterest, that is a big turnoff.

No-one wants to follow someone if there isn't even the slightest chance that they will follow you back. Pinners want to follow and be followed so that they can get as much publicity and fame as they can (I do at least!!!) and showing that you follow your followers is a great way to show potential followers that you are there for them and will give them a chance, not just use their follow.

Captions such as 'I follow back' or 'Follow for follow' really show your followers that you are trustworthy and understanding.

Group Boards

Being a part of group boards is a great way to show fellow pinners what you can bring to the table.

Getting the recognition and advertisement that is possible with group boards is a great way to boost your followers.

Now, don’t go plastering pins saying '!!!FOLLOW ME!!!' on every single board (unless it's a self-advertisement board), but, just be active and follow the group board guidelines set by the owner.

Also, if you want to get even more people following you and your boards, start your own group boards. Invite your followers and people that you follow to join your group board. Even if you only get a few people joining you board, don’t worry, if their followers follow the board, you will be followed to because you started it!!!

Keywords

Keyword descriptions in your pins can be crucial.

If your pin is clear in what it is for and who it is by, you are sure to get more activity on your pins and more follows to your profile.

In your pin description, use a variety of on-topic hashtags and words and make sure that the description promotes you and your boards not other peoples.'

Another feature that I find extremely effective is saving the same pin to multiple boards to ensure that it reaches every one of your followers and, if you want to put old pins to good use, find some of the pins you have saved earlier on and resave them to the same board or to new ones. This will keep 'new' content coming to your profile even if you can't find anything new.

Now, the secret to ultimate Pinterest keyword success: do your own hashtag.

Use your username as a hashtag to that if people click on it, they will be directed to your pins, boards and profile. This technique enormously increases you followers and viewers.
